The Energy Centre of the Ústí Region (ECUK), founded in August 2022 as a state-funded body, is dedicated to improving energy efficiency and advancing sustainable practices across the Ústí region. A central mission of ECUK is optimizing energy use in buildings and facilities owned by the region, alongside promoting renewable energy production.
ECUK’s services primarily target public administration, with a focus on supporting local municipalities and cities. A key asset in this effort is the Regional Energy Management (KEM) tool, an open-source software launched in 2023. This virtual platform collects and analyses data on energy and water use, integrates relevant documents such as project documentation, equipment certifications, and Energy Performance Certificates, and consolidates all data for comprehensive oversight of regional assets.
The tool is available to the 352 municipalities across the Ústí region, with ECUK actively implementing a Regional Energy Management System (EnMS) that complies with EN ISO 50001 standards. This initiative includes certification for regional organizations, including the Ústí Regional Office. So far, EnMS has been adopted in 52 out of 132 organizations, setting the groundwork for a unified regional energy management approach.
The KEM system is connected to the regional portal, drawing data from utilities for electricity, gas, water, and heat, while integrating billing data from energy providers. This streamlined system offers valuable insights, enabling users to analyse consumption trends, compare facilities, and identify effective cost-saving and efficiency measures.
