This initiative seeks to equip investors with vital information and streamline investments in the renewable energy sector.
The contact point serves two key functions:
- It helps investors navigate the complex landscape of permits and approvals necessary for constructing, renovating, or operating production facilities, including facilitating grid connections.
- It also provides guidance on the various support programs related to renewable energy, assisting with a range of applications—covering electricity and heat production, gaseous fuels (including hydrogen), biofuels, high-efficiency cogeneration, the use of excess heat in district heating systems, and energy storage.
To further enhance support, a series of comprehensive guidebooks has been created, addressing various topics such as production sources and technologies, construction procedures, grid connection processes, legal structures, and tax considerations. While some sections are still being developed, such as those related to implementing renewable energy systems in cultural heritage buildings, a guidebook for installing small renewable energy power plants is already available in Slovenian.
The initial guidebooks were collaboratively crafted by Borzen and SODO (Slovenian Electricity Distribution Operator), with additional input from a consortium of energy agencies that serve as experts in the field. These resources aim to assist both public and private investors in establishing energy power plants that utilize renewable sources, covering everything from documentation and legal obligations to market technologies.
Although the tangible impacts on communities are still unfolding, there has been encouraging progress. For instance, infolea-ptuj [dot] si (the Local Energy Agency Spodnje Podravje (LEASP)) reports that 16 municipalities in the region are either beginning or documenting the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on public buildings.
In summary, this contact point for promoting renewable energy usage is a vital resource for investors in Slovenia, offering essential, free support and information to advance the renewable energy sector and contribute to a sustainable, green future.
