Learn How The Green City Accord Is Shaping Greener Cities

The Green City Accord (GCA) is an initiative launched by the European Union in 2020, led by European mayors committed to making their cities cleaner and healthier.

Cities that sign the Accord commit to leading the way in implementing EU environmental law and the European Green Deal, and to reporting on their progress. Through the initiative, these cities aim to learn from one another, inspire further action, and enhance quality of life across Europe.

The GCA reflects the growing role of local governments in the EU's climate agenda, as recognised by the EU Agenda for Cities. It serves as a tool to give visibility to cities' efforts and to support them in driving meaningful, localised action for sustainability, reinforcing that the transition to a greener future depends heavily on action at the local level.
