Description
How can Europe’s industrial zones become hubs of clean energy cooperation and innovation? The ENERGIZE project, funded by the EU under the LIFE Programme, offers an in-depth review of energy cooperation models within (urban eco-) industrial parks in Europe and beyond.
The recently published report, Review of Regional Urban-Industrial Park Energy Cooperation Initiatives, explores how local stakeholders—industries, municipalities, utilities, and research institutions—collaborate in industrial zones to enhance sustainability and efficiency.
📌 What’s inside the report?
- A comprehensive data collection of 125 industrial parks, with 110 based in Europe, assessing their operational status, collaboration models, and renewable integration.
- Key theoretical frameworks around industrial symbiosis, circular economy, and energy cooperation—defining how shared resources, waste heat recovery, and joint infrastructure can support decarbonisation.
- Best practices from Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Japan, South Korea, and Australia, showing real-world success in connecting industrial systems with clean energy goals.
