Two Europeans nations go 100% Renewable

Seven countries now achieve 100% renewable electricity, with two in Europe leading the charge.

2023 shattered records for wind energy installations.

The Global Wind Energy Council's (GWEC) latest report reveals that the world added 116 gigawatts of new wind power in 2023, a staggering 50% increase from 2022, making it the best year ever for wind projects.

China dominated both offshore and onshore wind installations, followed by the US, Brazil, and Germany. Europe, driven by the Netherlands, also had a banner year, adding a remarkable 3.8 gigawatts of new offshore wind capacity.

Which countries run entirely on renewable energy?

As per data from the International Energy Agency (IEA) and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), a remarkable seven nations have achieved full reliance on renewable energy sources.

In Albania, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Iceland, Nepal, Paraguay, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the overwhelming majority—over 99.7%—of electricity is harnessed from geothermal, hydro, solar, or wind power.
