The Contact Point’s primary mission is to actively support and promote renewable energy use across Slovenia, focusing on public buildings, businesses, and private individuals. To ensure effective reach, Borzen, Slovenia’s National Energy Market Operator, has involved seven regional energy agencies and the EnSvet energy consultant network, covering all parts of the country.

The Contact Point’s initiatives include identifying ongoing and potential renewable energy projects, designing and training new consultants, and sharing best practices for community self-sufficiency and energy communities. Other key activities involve organising 10 workshops on renewable energy investment and analysing the installation of solar power on cultural heritage sites.

The Contact Point aims to streamline planning and management for renewable energy investments, boosting efficiency and optimising resources dedicated to Slovenia’s energy transition.

In the regions of Šaleška, Koroška, and Savinjska, KSSENA also promotes the European Energy Awards (EEA) to enhance governance and energy transition efforts. Through EEA, municipalities have adopted local energy strategies with clear climate action measures. Thanks to the EXCITE project, Celje, Slovenj Gradec, and Velenje are now recognised as EEA municipalities, continually improving their renewable energy use and sustainable practices.

To further support this process, core infrastructure and tools have been adapted to fit Slovenian legislation, allowing more municipalities to benefit from the EEA’s internationally recognised methodology.
