Taking a Step Back to Shape the Future: Expert Mission 28 to Reutlingen Climate Agency

Sometimes, looking at your work from a different perspective is the best way to identify new opportunities.

From 30 June to 2 July 2026, KlimaschutzAgentur Landkreis Reutlingen welcomed ManagEnergy Expert Christiane Egger, from OÖ Energiesparverband, for a three-day Expert Mission focused on reflecting on the agency's work and exploring opportunities for its future development.

A closer look at the agency's services

Over the course of the mission, Christiane met with members of the Energy Agency's highly engaged team to analyse its service portfolio and discuss its current strengths and areas for further development. The conversations covered a wide range of the agency's activities, from educational programmes and energy advice services for citizens to facilitation activities for the business sector, heat planning, and communication strategies.

Particular attention was given to how these existing services could be further developed and promoted to continue supporting the energy transition across the Reutlingen district.

Exploring new opportunities

The mission also brought together representatives of local energy cooperatives to discuss the opportunities emerging from new German legislation on Energy Communities. Together, they explored the preparation needed to seize these opportunities and reflected on what a potential pilot project could look like.

For KlimaschutzAgentur Landkreis Reutlingen, the mission provided a valuable opportunity to benefit from an external perspective and experiences from across Europe.

Turning new perspectives into concrete ideas

The three days of open discussions and exchanges highlighted both the strong commitment of the team and the considerable progress it has already achieved in supporting the energy transition in the region. As Christiane Egger concluded:

As the 28th and final Expert Mission of the current ManagEnergy contract, the visit to Reutlingen provided a fitting example of what these exchanges are designed to achieve: creating the space to learn from others and turn new perspectives into concrete ideas for the future.
