The EU Covenant of Mayors’ Award is back, presenting a fantastic opportunity for cities to showcase their initiatives aimed at decarbonising heating and cooling. This year's award aligns with the Cities Heat Detox campaign, promoting cleaner and more sustainable heating and cooling solutions.
This award celebrates cities that implement innovative projects contributing to local decarbonisation strategies, positively impacting air quality, economic resilience, and community well-being.
Participating in the Covenant Award not only recognises your city's accomplishments but also serves as a platform to inspire other cities across Europe and beyond. It’s a chance to demonstrate your city’s commitment to combating climate change and highlight innovative approaches to creating greener, healthier, and more sustainable urban environments.
Open to all Covenant signatories, the 2025 Covenant Award welcomes cities of all sizes, whether large metropolitan areas or small towns. The award acknowledges a variety of impactful projects that align with each city's capabilities.
Judging criteria will focus on contributions to decarbonisation goals, stakeholder engagement, and the broader benefits related to energy sovereignty, economic efficiency, and job creation. Winning projects will showcase technological advancements and strong community involvement, particularly in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your dedication to transforming the heating and cooling sector.
Even if your city doesn’t win, applying for the 2025 Covenant Award will provide valuable exposure for your initiatives. Each application is a chance to have your project highlighted through EU Covenant communications. By entering the award, you'll join a campaign that inspires interviews, case studies, and events.
