The Horizon Europe POWERUP project has launched an open call for regional partners ready to accelerate the uptake of Renewable Energy Systems (RES) in their territories, which refers to technologies and infrastructures that generate energy from renewable sources such as solar, wind, hydro, or biomass. These systems are designed to provide sustainable, low-carbon energy while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

POWERUP addresses the complex political, social, economic and cultural barriers that slow down RES deployment. To overcome them, the project is developing a suite of practical, open-source tools tailored to local and regional realities:

  • A Business Model Toolkit to design equitable, socially accepted RES business models
  • A Co-Creation Toolkit for engaging stakeholders in the co-design of RES projects
  • A GIS-based decision support tool integrating spatial and contextual data to guide RES planning

Regional partners joining POWERUP will benefit from early access to these tools, peer-to-peer support, targeted webinars and workshops, and an invitation to a physical showcase event where travel and subsistence costs are covered. For more information, you can refer to the guidelines.

How to apply

Interested organisations should complete the expression of interest survey by 16 April 2026. Selected candidates will be contacted between 1 and 15 May 2026 for validation, with Memoranda of Agreement expected to be signed by 1 June 2026.
