Eurostat has released a new online publication titled "Statistics on climate change mitigation". The publication provides a structured overview of how economic actors contribute to and are affected by climate-related developments.
The publication provides information that enables users to independently examine key indicators drawn from the environmental economic accounts, including air emissions, physical energy flows, the environmental goods and services sector, and environmental taxes.
The publication consists of 5 sections, each including interactive features such as maps and graphs to illustrate statistics and trends. The 5 sections are:
- Greenhouse gas emission accounts
- Energy accounts
- Greenhouse gas emission footprints
- Investments in climate change mitigation
- Climate-related taxes
By integrating economic and environmental data within a coherent statistical framework, the publication supports a deeper understanding of the relationship between economic activity and environmental impact.
An environmental accounts dashboard is also available, which provides additional visualisations on climate change, the environmental economy, the circular economy and environmental footprints.
