NESOIPlus applications for island energy communities deadline extended!

NESOI Plus is inviting renewable and citizen energy communities to apply for technical assistance to develop bankable, investment-ready energy projects in Europe’s outermost island regions.

The support is open to existing and emerging energy communities, including Renewable Energy Communities, Citizen Energy Communities, municipal-driven initiatives, citizen-led and cooperative projects, as well as rural and vulnerable-citizen initiatives. Communities may already be legally established or still under development, provided they can demonstrate stakeholder commitment and complete the necessary legal steps during the assistance phase.

Eligible projects must support the development of energy communities and contribute to island energy transition objectives. Priority technologies include solar PV, wind energy, geothermal systems, storage and EV infrastructure linked to renewables, energy efficiency in buildings, and renewable heating and cooling.

Projects must be physically implemented in one of the eligible territories: the Canary Islands, the Azores Islands or Martinique. Energy communities may be legally established elsewhere, as long as the investment and activities take place in one of these islands.

Applications are submitted through the NESOIPlus online platform, with forms available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. Selected beneficiaries will receive an Investment Concept, an all-in-one report providing technical direction, financial and economic insights, a business and funding strategy, and support to connect with investors and financial partners.

The application deadline has been extended until 10 July 2026.
