The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has opened registration for governments and experts to review the Second-Order Draft of its upcoming Special Report on Climate Change and Cities.

The report will assess the latest science on climate change and urban areas, including climate impacts and risks, as well as adaptation and mitigation options for cities. The Second-Order Draft also includes the first draft of the Summary for Policymakers, a key document intended to support climate decision-making.

The expert review is an important stage in the IPCC process, helping ensure that the report is scientifically rigorous, transparent and relevant to the challenges faced by cities and communities in a changing climate.

Experts can register to participate in the review until 26 June 2026. The review period runs from 8 May to 3 July 2026. The final Special Report is scheduled for release in March 2027.
