The European City Facility (EUCF) is preparing a new round of funding, offering financial and technical support to cities, municipalities and local authorities looking to boost their sustainable energy and climate investments.
The 8th call opens in October 2026 and stays open for two months, with further rounds tentatively planned for Spring and Autumn 2027. A total of 11.1 million EUR will support 185 new beneficiaries, each receiving 60 000 EUR. This builds on previous rounds, which have already helped over 400 local authorities develop investment concepts.
What's new this time
The application process will largely follow previous rounds, with two key changes. The scope now includes actions supporting local heating and cooling plans, alongside the existing focus on energy efficiency and clean energy tied to SECAPs or equivalent strategies. Eligibility has also expanded: alongside the EU27, Ukraine and Iceland, Montenegro, Moldova and North Macedonia can now apply too.
