The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) recently opened the 5th Call for Cross-Border Renewable Energy (CB RES) status on 2 September.
Projects covering renewable energy technologies and cross-border cooperation involving an EU Member State are welcome to apply for the CB RES status. Applications to obtain this status will remain open until 5 February 2026. Eligible renewable energy technologies range from onshore and offshore wind, solar, sustainable biomass, ocean and geothermal, as well as hybrid solutions.
The CB RES status grants projects more opportunities for financial support and increased confidence from investors. Projects with the status will also benefit from enhanced EU-level visibility and Member State support. By obtaining the status, recipients will be able to work under the CB RES window of the CEF Energy Programme and access EU funding for studies.
Since its establishment in 2021, the CB RES status has distributed over €91 million to 14 projects, with 3 more projects currently under grant agreement preparation.
A virtual information day held by CINEA on 23 September will give guidance on the application process, providing background information about the status and how to submit a strong application.
