ALEA projects for supporting local authorities sustinable energy policies

ALEA projects for supporting local authorities sustinable energy policies

The final conference of the INTERREG EUROPE SUPPORT (“Support for local authorities on the implementation of low carbon strategies”) project was organised online by the Energy Agency of RhinelandPalatinate on February 2, 2021. Its scope was to disseminate the implementation results in the project regions.

Within SUPPORT, ALEA aimed to support local authorities in Alba County in implementing sustainable energy policies under the Alba County Energy Strategy. The project also aimed to improve the operational quality of the ERDF funds used by local authorities for CO2 reduction strategies. SUPPORT set out to strengthen the capacity of local authorities to make optimal use of ERDF funds for strategies and sustainable energy actions.

The event was attended by over 100 representatives, organizations in the field of energy sustainability at local and regional level from partner countries. The main topics addressed were multi-municipal actions and better implementation of existing energy planning documents, software solutions for monitoring energy consumption, and alternative solutions for energy efficient public buildings.

The presenters shared their experiences and the results of their local action plans developed during the project. Among the remarkable results of the project was the good practice case of the ANERGO Regional Energy Observatory, created and developed by ALEA. ANERGO is an essential tool for quantifying and monitoring energy consumption and carbon emissions in Alba County and beyond.

ALEA also presented the pilot project SaveEnergy@HCC implemented in the National College “Horea, Cloșca and Crișan . With this action, ALEA and Alba Iulia Municipality continues its efforts towards achieving a strategic objective, namely reducing the impact of energy consumption on the environment. The goal of SaveEnergy@HCC is to reduce energy consumption in the HCC College building by changing user behaviour and introducing SMART applications. Important practical expected results are: 9% reduction in energy consumption during the implementation period (approximately 120 MWh), 9% reduction in CO2 emissions (approximately 30 t CO2), the identification of a set of main investments for the transformation of the building into a nZEB one.

The conference ended with a presentation given by Ms. Charo Camacho, Senior Officer of the INTERREG EUROPE Secretariat, who appreciated the successful results of the SUPPORT project and presented details about the future of the INTERREG EUROPE program in the new European funding period.
