Description
The EU Covenant of Mayors and Citizen-Led Renovation Initiative are organising a new online webinar as a part of Financing Series, focused on how municipalities and regions can mobilise citizen finance to support clean energy and climate action projects.
With public budgets under increasing pressure, local governments are looking for innovative financing solutions to deliver on their climate commitments. Citizen finance and crowdfunding provide powerful opportunities to unlock additional funding, strengthen local ownership, and build public trust in the energy transition.
This webinar will explore how municipalities, regions, energy agencies and energy communities can engage citizens not only as beneficiaries, but as active investors and co-owners of clean energy initiatives. Participants will gain practical insights into launching citizen finance campaigns, from community engagement strategies to structuring funding models that deliver results.
A key focus will be the scaling-up of the Citizen-Led Renovation Initiative, which supports energy communities through technical assistance, financial guidance and project management. By creating enabling conditions and strengthening local capacity, the initiative helps communities move from pilot projects to long-term impact.
Whether you are just starting to explore citizen finance or looking to scale up existing efforts, this session offers concrete guidance to turn climate ambition into citizen-powered implementation.
