Description

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming every sector, and energy is no exception. With its capacity to enhance the resilience of Europe’s power system, discussions about the potential opportunities of AI and energy are necessary.
To seize these opportunities while addressing emerging challenges, the European Commission is developing a Strategic Roadmap for Digitalisation and AI in the Energy Sector. This initiative, aligned with the goals of the Apply AI Strategy, aims to accelerate AI adoption across the entire energy value chain, ensuring that innovation goes hand in hand with responsible risk management.
Join us for an exclusive event that will delve into:
- How AI can revolutionise Europe’s energy landscape, and
- The growing energy demand required to power AI itself.
Attendance: In-person participation is by invitation only. A live stream will be available for all interested viewers.
What to Expect
After welcoming remarks and a keynote address by Fatih Birol, Director of the IEA, a panel discussion will invite AI and energy leaders to address questions such as:
- How can the energy system best integrate the future needs of AI technologies in an energy efficient way?
- What tools can help support the Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA) objective of tripling the EU’s data centre capacity in the next 5 to 7 years?
- How can policymakers and industry leaders cooperate to promote European innovation in AI development while mitigating deployment risks in critical energy infrastructures and ensure cybersecurity?
- How can we ensure that AI has access to sufficient and high-quality data to effectively develop foundations models for the energy sector?
This panel discussion will be moderated by Ditte Juul Jørgensen from DG ENER and Roberto Viola from CNECT DG. The two will then conclude the session with closing remarks.
