Description

From 9 to 13 June 2026, Brussels will host the third edition of the Festival of the New European Bauhaus (NEB). Mark your calendars to join this multifaceted event where design, culture, and sustainability converge, with activities ranging from vibrant artistic celebrations to policy dialogues.
A Multifaceted Celebration
Organised by the European Commission, the Festival will unfold across four formats:
- Forum – A gathering point for debate and reflection on the NEB vision.
- Fair – A showcase of cutting-edge prototypes and projects aligned with inclusivity, sustainability, and quality design.
- Fest – A cultural programme combining performance, art, and creativity with opportunities for an exchange of ideas and joy.
- Satellite Events – Independent activities taking place in Brussels and across Europe, spreading the Festival’s ethos beyond the capital.
Spotlight on Democratic Engagement
This year’s edition puts democratic engagement in the spotlight. Discussions will focus on how people and local authorities play an important role in building inclusive and sustainable communities. Affordable housing will serve as a key theme, highlighting its role in democratic engagement. True to NEB principles, the approach follows the sequence of life first, then spaces, then buildings.
Get Involved
The Festival is also open to contributions from anyone with a passion for sustainability. Interested participants are invited to contribute in three main ways:
- Present a project at the Fair – applications due by 15 October 2025.
- Offer an artistic or cultural contribution to the Fest – deadline 15 October 2025.
- Host a Satellite Event in your own city or region – applications open until 31 December 2025.
Artists, designers, innovators, community organisers, and engaged citizens are all encouraged to join in shaping this shared vision for Europe’s future.
Why the Festival Matters
Since its debut in 2022, the NEB Festival has become a milestone for the initiative, demonstrating its progress and impact. By linking the European Green Deal and the Clean Industrial Deal with tangible improvements to communities, buildings, and lifestyles, the Festival illustrates that sustainability goes hand in hand with affordability, accessibility, and cultural vibrancy.
The 2026 edition promises to be both a celebration and a call to action. Brussels will be the stage, but the conversation belongs to all of Europe.
