- Clean Energy for EU Islands Forum 2026
Description
The 2026 edition of the Clean Energy for EU Islands Forum will take place in Mallorca, Spain, on 20 - 21 May 2026.
Save the date in your calendar to join a two-day forum focusing on how islands aiming to reach 100% renewable energy can balance environmental, economic, and social priorities in implementation.
Guided by the theme of “Resilient islands, resilient Europe,” the Forum will serve as a platform for experience-sharing among island practitioners and representatives from all levels of governance. Concrete achievements will be showcased, remaining gaps openly discussed, and practical pathways toward full decarbonisation explored.
HIghlights From the 30 Renewable Islands for 2030 Initiative
By drawing on three years of targeted technical assistance for the participants of the 30 renewable islands for 2030 initiative, alongside national-level regulatory reviews, the Forum will address the complexity of governance in island energy transitions.
These experiences reveal that delivering clean energy is not solely a technical exercise, but a coordinated effort requiring alignment across local communities, public authorities, regulators, and market actors. First-hand testimonies from the transition teams of the 30 renewable islands for 2030 initiative will offer valuable, grounded insights into what works, what does not, and how shared priorities can turn complexity into progress.
Those attending the Forum may also be interested in joining two capacity-building workshops in Mallorca on 19 and 22 May 2026 that will provide hands-on learning for island energy stakeholders.
